FAQs - LVT Flooring

How you lay your LVT flooring depends on the type you choose. We have two types of LVT flooring: Dryback and Click.

Dryback LVT requires some form of LVT adhesive for installation to secure the planks in place.

LVT click flooring, on the other hand, simply clicks together, like our laminate flooring, which has a drop-click installation system. Click LVT flooring doesn’t require LVT adhesive or joining tape.

Like regular vinyl flooring, we recommend regularly sweeping or vacuuming to prevent any buildup of dirt and debris. For deeper cleaning, you can use a damp mop with a mild detergent suitable for vinyl floors. Like with laminate and standard vinyl, avoid using too much water, as LVT is sensitive to excessive moisture.

Our LVT flooring doesn’t need underlay, as it comes with built-in 1mm underlay pads for extra cushioning to create that soft feel underfoot. Installing an extra underlay underneath our luxury vinyl flooring tiles can impact how well the planks click into place.

Our LVT floors are made from multiple layers of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), including a core layer, a decorative layer (mimicking the look of real wood or stone), and a protective top layer made of polyurethane to protect the surface from scratching and general wear and tear.

Still tossing up your options? You can read our blog to help you decide whether laminate or LVT is better for your home.

LVT is one of the most durable domestic flooring options available. With normal use, a good-quality LVT floor is expected to last 20 years or more. The wear layer thickness is the key indicator of longevity: a 0.3mm wear layer is suitable for standard domestic use, while a 0.5mm or thicker wear layer handles heavier traffic and is commonly specified for commercial settings. All of our LVT comes with manufacturer warranties reflecting its long-term performance.

Yes, LVT is one of the best flooring types to pair with underfloor heating because LVT conducts heat efficiently and evenly across the surface. Most ranges in our collection are compatible with both electric and water-based systems. Always check the individual product spec for maximum surface temperature guidelines, and use a low-tog underlay where applicable to allow heat to pass through effectively.

Yes, LVT has a rigid, waterproof core that makes it fully impervious to water, making it one of the most reliable choices for bathrooms, kitchens, and any room where moisture is inevitable. We still recommend sealing the perimeter with silicone sealant after installation to prevent water from getting underneath at the edges and reaching the subfloor.

Yes, LVT is one of the most versatile flooring options available and works well in every room, including bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, living rooms, and bedrooms. Its waterproof core makes it particularly well-suited to wet areas where other flooring types might struggle, and its R10 slip resistance rating meets the recommended safety standard for domestic bathrooms. It's also a practical choice for households with children or pets, thanks to its durability, easy-clean surface, and resistance to scratches and scuffs.

Both are made from PVC, but LVT and sheet vinyl are quite different products. Sheet vinyl (lino) comes in a single continuous roll, is thinner and more flexible, and is laid directly onto the subfloor. LVT comes in individual rigid planks or tiles with a click-lock or glue-down fitting system, is significantly thicker and more durable, and has a more realistic wood or stone appearance thanks to its embossed surface texture. LVT is generally the more premium option, as it’s warmer underfoot, more stable, and has a longer expected lifespan.

More Info on LVT Flooring

Upgrade any space with luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) for a hardwearing, easy-maintenance solution to classic, natural flooring materials like wood or stone. Unlike regular vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl flooring tiles are thicker and more durable, making them perfect for busier homes and commercial areas where heavy foot traffic is regular. All of our LVT carries an R10 slip resistance rating as standard, the recommended minimum for domestic wet areas, so it's a safe and practical choice wherever moisture is a factor. Choose from classics like tile or wood to a more trendy style like herringbone.

LVT is a versatile flooring suitable for more than just living rooms, bedrooms, or kitchens; it's also great for bathrooms. Luxury vinyl tiles for bathroom spaces are designed to withstand moisture, giving you the freedom to express your home's aesthetic without worrying about water damage. Most ranges in our collection are also compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems; just check the individual product spec for maximum temperature guidelines and use a low-tog underlay to ensure heat passes through to the surface effectively.

When it comes to fitting, there are two options to choose from. Click LVT uses a click-lock system, the same principle as laminate, making it a straightforward DIY fit that can be lifted and relaid if needed. Dryback LVT is bonded directly to the subfloor with adhesive for a permanent, fully rigid installation, and is the preferred choice for very high-traffic areas or where a floating floor isn't suitable. Choose LVT flooring and take your pick of finishes, styles, and fitting options to create a foundation for your interior that looks as good as it is long-lasting.
